In our latest installment of Meet the Shadowcliff Lodge, we bring you the incredible husband and wife duo Alanah and Brandon who work so hard together to help make Shadowcliff what it is.

  • What made you want to work at Shadowcliff? My family history with Shadowcliff
  • Coolest place you’ve ever visited: Egypt
  • If you could be an expert in anything, what would it be? Identifying wild, edible plants
  • Favorite movie: Napoleon Dynamite
  • What is something you would definitely want in your dream home? A big porch with a swinging bench
  • The next place you would like to visit? Oregon
  • Favorite activity in Grand Lake: Bumper boats
  • What was your first pet? My dog Sadie
  • If you were stranded on an island what three items would you want to have with you? A metal match, a hand drill (for primitive fire starting), and a wool blanket
  • What famous and/or historical figure, dead or alive, would you want to have dinner with and what is one question you would ask? Sister Helen Prejean – where does your strength come from?

  • If you could be an expert in anything, what would it be? Traditional woodworking

  • What is something you would definitely want in your dream home? A woodstove
  • The next place you would like to visit? The Oregon coast
  • Favorite activity in Grand Lake: Hiking the trails
  • What was your first pet? Lucile, a small kitten
  • If you were stranded on an island what three items would you want to have with you? Water, matches, wool blanket
  • What famous and/or historical figure, dead or alive, would you want to have dinner with and what is one question you would ask? John Muir – How did you survive a fourteen hour hike with a little bread and tea?
