Shadowcliff Artist Residency: Artist Talks and Performances at Grand Lake Community House
Shadowcliff Mountain Lodge, in partnership with the Grand Lake Creative District, is thrilled to present a special public event featuring the inaugural cohort of artists from its new residency program. Join us on Monday, September 9, at 7:00 PM at the Grand Lake Community House.
This free event offers Grand Lake residents and visitors a unique opportunity to engage with five nationally recognized artists as they share their creative processes, present their work, and discuss their experience in residence at Shadowcliff. Attendees will gain insight into how each artist approaches their craft through a series of presentations, performances, and conversations.
Meet the Artists:
Kyle Dacuyan (Brooklyn, NY) is a poet, performer, and 2021 NEA Creative Writing Fellow whose work explores the intersections of language, labor, and embodiment. Dacuyan’s poetry and performance pieces delve into themes of pleasure, voice, and the impact of profit-driven systems on individual and collective identities.
Ash Hanson (Moab, UT) is a theater artist and 2018 Obama Foundation Fellow with a deep commitment to social practice and rural community development. Hanson’s work centers on activating stories and building connections within small towns, drawing on her expertise in creative civic engagement.
Li Harris (Houston, TX) is an interdisciplinary artist, musician, and 2022 Guggenheim Fellow whose practice incorporates voice, electronics, movement, and new media to explore themes of healing, spirituality, and resilience. Harris’s work is rooted in improvisation and community-driven creative practices.
Sam Kim (Brooklyn, NY) is an experimental choreographer, dancer, and MacDowell, Yaddo, Djerassi, and UCross Fellow, whose bold, boundary-pushing performances challenge traditional dance forms. Kim’s choreographic work is known for its raw physicality and exploration of cultural identity and resistance.
Helen Otterson (Excelsior, MN) is a ceramic and glass sculptor with a keen interest in the intersections of art, nature, and science. Otterson’s intricate and expressive sculptures have been exhibited internationally and are featured in multiple museum collections.
This event is free and open to the public. RSVP strongly recommended.
