Light & Shadow

Join us for an evening of improvised performance. FireTale Productions, a Kansas City-based shadow puppet theater co-founded by Ritu Nanos and Mikal Shapiro, will weave movement and form in response to poetry spoken live by visual artist and writer José Faus.

FireTale's work draws on oral tradition and cultural myth to explore what it means to be human in relationship to the living world. José Faus brings a practice rooted in community, language, and the catalytic role of artists in public life. Together, they offer an evening that is both intimate and expansive. A reminder that storytelling is alive, generous, and capable of surprise.

This performance is part of Shadowcliff's 2026 Still Point Sessions residencies, bringing José Faus, Ritu Nanos, and Mikal Shapiro together for a week of creative work in the mountains above Grand Lake.
