Program

Our stories help us to understand who we are.  Within each of us is a hidden wealth of wisdom and insight.  Our stories reveal what we know and value. What gives your life meaning? What has shaped you? As we re-member the moments in our lives when we felt a deep connection with the sacred, or when we stood in awe and were transported beyond ourselves, we put words to what we believe to be important, to what has motivated and transformed us.

Our days will be spent in a rhythm of relaxation and reflection, writing or drawing, sharing, and listening.Writing activities will focus on values and experiences that give meaning and a few writing techniques appropriate to this kind of project. There will be no critique of our writing. Sharing is optional, and may include reading what you have written, sharing a drawing, or whatever else you choose to communicate your story.  Listening is the gift we will give to each other along the way.

Here the schedule!

Location

The Gift of Story Retreat offers us space for discovery and sharing. We will interact with our Shadowcliff hosts and sit in the presence of mountains, pine trees, rivers and the myriad creatures who live nearby. Optional outdoor activities will include exploring the beautiful Grand Lake area by boat, by foot, and perhaps by car (for wildlife viewing), plus down time to spend either alone or together with new found friends.

Accommodations & Meals

Meals begin with dinner on the 22nd, continue with three meals daily, and end with breakfast on the 26th. Our Compassionate Kitchen lovingly provides delicious, nutritious food prepared with seasonal, local, organic ingredients as much as possible. We believe in the power of sharing a meal. All meals are served buffet style and include drinks. Special diets may be accommodated with notice.

Participants will stay in the Rempel Lodge, where our cozy lodge rooms offer extraordinary views. Shadowcliff lodges have shared, gender-specific bathrooms with private showers. Upon arrival, you will be given a package of lovingly folded sheets and towels. Shadowcliff does not provide nightly cleaning in our guest rooms, but you are more than welcome to stop by the Front Office for new sheets and/or towesl should you require them.
