Laundry Sustainability Efforts

Shadowcliff created a policy to only purchase ENERGY STAR appliances, such as washing machines and dryers. An ENERGY STAR washing machine consumes 25% less energy and 33% less water while ENERGY STAR dryers use 20% less energy than conventional machines.

When guests arrive at Shadowcliff, they each receive a linen bundle including sheets, towels and washcloths. The bundle is neatly tied with a colored ribbon and a message card encouraging the guest to request replacements as needed during their stay and to return the ribbon and message card for reuse at the end of their stay.

The linen bundle is an assurance to the guest of the cleanliness of their linens and the cooperative relationship of guests and staff in providing a clean and affordable environment

All laundry and housekeeping products were switched to Shaklee Products in order to minimize adverse chemical impacts of many more commonly available commercial products.

Shadowcliff proudly purchased the first waterless urinals in Grand County, and eventually installed low flow and dual flush toilets to promote water conservation. The current model is the Niagara Stealth single flush, which has a 0.8 Gallons-Per-Flush (GPF) rating. The federally mandated GPF is a 1.6, and Shadowcliff is delighted to extend its sustainability efforts to the toilets.
