What is High Five News? from Shadowcliff Friend Harvey Stone

As you know, the Shadowcliff community is made up of quite an amazing bunch of folks! Recently you've received communications that have included poetry and other writings.
We think it makes sense to keep introducing more and more community members to you can get to know each other, especially when we can't easily meet in person.
Going forward we will periodically plan to feature members of our community through communications like this. Today, we introduce the work of Harvey Stone. Enjoy!
Harvey Stone  (Boulder, CO)
Harvey has had a long career as a writer/speaker/trainer. (Harvey's LinkedIn profile) He has also hosted a radio show; written a climate-centered action-thriller novel; and co-hosted Shadowcliff sustainability workshops with former Shadowcliff Co-Director, Bob Mann. The common thread is his skill in shaping messages so that they engage people and move them to take action. Based on his complacency during the 2016 Presidential election, he swore that he would not sit on the sidelines in 2020. High-Five News is the result of that commitment.

HIGH-FIVE NEWS (by Harvey Stone)

Thomas Paine got it right: “Now is the time for all good men (and women) to come to the aid of their country.”

In less than 80 days, the November 3rd election will be here. What is each of us doing to impact the election outcomes?

Enter High-Five News. We are communication specialists who recognize that the love of story is hardwired into us; that stories so often engage, entertain or educate us; and that – when what’s-working stories of progress are integrated into campaign websites, speeches, videos and more at no cost to the campaigns -  they can help to excite people and expand a candidate's voter base.

High Five News has compiled over 150 stories in our database and many others are ready to be added. The common thread is that they describe tangible progress related to COVID-19, racial equality, economic opportunity, climate change, women’s rights and other issues that voters care about deeply. Click here to see just a few of these "what's working" stories.

Currently, we are offering our stories and services at no cost to specific campaigns in CO, TX, SC and other states. If you would like to make a meaningful contribution to this election, High-Five News needs your help for as little as 2 hours a week. Specifically, people who:

  • Have campaign contacts or are comfortable making them
  • Can conduct online research on key issues in key jurisdictions
  • Can use their social-media networks to distribute stories
  • Aren’t sure how to help, but are open to finding a way...
