Ellen has 35 years of policy, program planning and development experience. She received her MSW from the University of Denver and is also trained in mediation. Ellen has consulted with state domestic violence and sexual assault coalitions, working with the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV), the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence and as the Interim Executive Director for the Colorado Coalition Against Domestic Violence (now Violence Free Colorado). As a consultant Ellen effected executive coaching, meeting facilitation, board development, capacity building, strategic planning, and organizational trauma work. As Interim ED, Ellen guided the Coalition in establishing a clear direction responsive to member needs and emerging trends, and transitioning toward a culture of increased communication, transparency, shared leadership, and accountability.
Previously the Executive Director of SafeHouse Denver from 1998 – 2007, Ellen also spent 12 years as the Director of Socio-Economics and Health Care Policy for the Colorado Medical Society. Prior to that Ellen worked as a youth counselor in a residential child care facility.
Ellen is currently on the board of the Women’s Bean Project. She also serves on the DEI committee for Project PAVE and Together Colorado’s Transforming Justice Team.
