With Patt Rempel’s recent passing, we are expressing our GRATITUDE to Warren, Patt and their family for nearly 5 decades of service, and for gifting a $1.7 million dollar facility to us, thereby enabling us to steward Shadowcliff’s mission while maintaining affordability for future generations.
When the Rempels retired in 2002, the Board committed to sustain the Rempel’s vision and proposed making annual payments to the Rempel Family over a 20-year period. Patt and Warren resisted; Shadowcliff was, for them, a calling: a gift to the world. But the Board wanted to “pay forward’ their gratitude for that that gift, and to support Patt and Warren through their retirement years. Reluctantly, the Rempels accepted the Board’s proposal. At Patt’s death in 2018, three installments totaling $60,000 remained. To honor the Rempel legacy and continue to “Inspire the Journey” for the future, the Board voted to fulfill the remainder of the pledge in a single year – 2019.
Soon after the Board committed to raise $60,000 in 2019 to fulfill the pledge to the Rempel Family legacy, a generous anonymous donor offered $20,000 as a “matching gift” IF the balance could be raised by September 30th. The Board added $10,000 to the matching fund so that every dollar donated thereafter would be doubled.
Each dollar given to the “Campaign of Gratitude” will be matched if we reach our goal by September 30th!
