Town of Grand Lake & Shadowcliff Still Safe

The official update this evening confirmed that the Town of Grand Lake has not seen fire damage. Shadowcliff, although we are not 100% certain, appears to be safe as well.

The East Troublesome fire gained another 18,000 acres today and is still only 5% contained. The main concern for Grand Lake at this time are spot fires. The snow fall is expected to be helpful, but not enough to significantly impact the containment work ahead.

Fortunately, today high winds did not manifest as forecasted, which allowed the air containment to be in effect most of the day. The sheriff reported that utility companies are beginning to assess when and how power might be turned back on. They have a huge job ahead of them to assess over 6500 structures in northern Grand County.
