Communiversity: Troublesome

Thursday, August 19 at 4pmMST

On October 21, 2020, the East Troublesome Fire roared through Grand County creating a unique firestorm unlike any that have been seen before. Nearly everyone agreed a forest fire had been waiting to happen for years but no one anticipated the firestorm that came about. Now we are left to watch nature take its course to see what results over time. This presentation will look at some of the immediate effects of the fire, what recovery can be seen to date, and what are some of the lingering impacts. The story is told from the perspective of imagery gained from drone overflights and satellite imagery interpretation.  A view of how this perspective shapes our interpretations will be presented.
