Shadowcliff Chronology: 1999

1999-2000: The Rempel’s work with Bob Mann for about a year on plans to “sell Shadowcliff. On Labor Day Volunteer Weekend in September 2000 after conversations with many friends they decide NOT to sell Shadowcliff and to “give it away” with recorded restrictions on the use. Rempels come to Riverbend Cabin and tell Bob of their decision and ask he and judith to succeed them as Directors and “keepers of the vision”. Bob calls Judith, she agrees and comes out from Kansas City a few days later and they begin the journey.

During fall/winter of 2000/2001 Bob and Judith request formal creation of a Board of Directors with policy and decision making roles to oversee Shadowcliff. New Board includes 3 people from previous inactive board and adds several new board members with Warren and Patt consent and approval.

In 2001 property is gifted to Bridging the Gap, Inc. a tax exempt organization in Kansas City. A new Colorado not for profit organization is created and a new Colorado Board of Directors selected by Rempels and Bob Mann and Judith Christy. First portion of property is gifted and back portion of property is leased on a long erm basis by Rempel Family Limited Liability Partnership to BTG and by BTG to Shadowcliff.

The Rempel’s officially retire after the September 2001 season and the new Board hosts a gala retirement party for them in September 2001 at Shadowcliff. Bob and Judith spend the month of September, 2001 at Shadowcliff with the Rempel’s learning the ropes!
