A message from Blaine:

Dear Shadowcliff Community,

It’s a joy to greet you as the Executive Director, and thank you to the Board for allowing me the opportunity to join in supporting our mountain sanctuary and its many supporters and guests. When Kathy Baldwin passed along the job notification of the open ED position, I reviewed it thoroughly, and found myself answering “yes” to each of the introductory inquiry questions  —

 • Do you feel called to steward an inspiring non-profit mountain sanctuary and retreat center with a 65-year history in Grand Lake, Colorado? (Sounds amazing!)

• Are you motivated by meaningful collaborations and community-cultivating spaces? (Oh yes, very much!)

 • Do you feel excited by the opportunity to work with an engaged board of directors to implement a new strategic plan? (I sure do!)
…And then began nodding enthusiastically at Shadowcliff’s mission, vision, and values. In short, I align personally and professionally with the mission, “A mountain sanctuary that holds space for individual and collective transformation.”

My executive and administrative leadership for decades has been through medium and small-sized non-profit impact organizations – including several in Colorado. As a United Methodist clergyperson in Kansas City, I chose to be spiritual director for the HIV/AIDS retreat at Shadowcliff in the 1990’s. It was a diverse setting of people, and I was happy to engage in spiritual conversations beyond the exclusive doctrines of organized religion. I returned to Shadowcliff a few years later to perform a wedding ceremony on the Point. These experiences abide in deep sacred spaces within me.

I look forward to serving in the Executive Director role at Shadowcliff and helping to steward this amazing organization into its next chapter. Feel free to reach out to me at Director@shadowcliff.org at any time.

Warmly,

Blaine Scott
